Social justice refers to the equal rights and opportunities of members of society, particularly those members who are at a disadvantage due to societal factors beyond their control. We advance social justice when we remove barriers that people face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability. KSSS to promote theme of social justice 2016 (“A just transition: Environmentally sustainable economies and societies.”) celebrated Social Justice Day at Malankara region, Chingavanam village. The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Thomas Kurishumoottil (GVS President Chingavanam).

The classes were led on the topic “Role of women in Social Justice in families” by Mrs. Shyla P. Thomas (KSSS Programme Coordinator & Family Counsellor). It is within the family environment that an individual’s physical, emotional and psychological development occurs. From our family we should learn unconditional love, understand right from wrong, and gain empathy, respect and self-regulation.  These qualities enable us to engage positively at school, at work and in society.

The programme winded up with prizes distribution for poetry competition organized earlier was conferred during the celebration.
