On June 27, 2016 KSSS’ Samaritan Resource Centre celebrated three successful years of working as the State Learning Centre of Sense International India for Deafblind persons. A get-together of Deafblind persons and their families made the day even auspicious. The event was organized in partnership with Sense International India and the get-together of Differently-abled was also supported by Kerala Social Service Forum, on behalf of Kerala Catholic Bishop’s Council (KCBC) in the context of Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy in the Catholic Church.
The programme was inaugurated by Mar Mathew Moolakkatt (Metropolitan Archbishop, Kottayam) in the presence of dignitaries from the social, political, cultural and religious spheres in society. After the inaugural session there was a seminar on “Converting Disabilities to Different Abilities” by Shri. Anish Mohan (Trainer, IPCAI). It was followed by distribution of financial assistance for medicine and treatment under Jeevakarunya Nidhi scheme of KSSS.
The most rewarding moment of the day was the presentation of honors for various categories – “Eklavya Award to the Best Deafblind Child” went to Ms. Sneha Joseph, “Special Appreciation Award to Best Trainer Mother” went to Mrs. Latha Chacko & “Public Exam Top Scoring Differently-Abled Child” was Miss Sneha Shaji.
