Thousands of women from different regions of KSSS marked their distinct presence in the women day celebration conducted by Kottayam Social Service Society at Chaithanya Pastoral Centre Thellakom by proclaiming their robustness acquired by conquering all hindrances in life. The official meeting was inagurated by Shri Thiruvanjoor Radhakrishnan, ML A and the meeting was presided over by Rev Fr. Michael Vettikatt (Vicar General, Kottayam Archdiocese). Mrs Reeshma Rameshan IPS (ASP, Kottayam) took part in the meeting as chief guest. Mrs Jessymol (Vice president, Kottayam District panchayath), Mrs Beena Binu (Block Panchayath President, Ettumanoor), Mrs Marykutty Sebastian (Gramapanchayath president, Athirampuzha), Prof. Mercy Mulakkattu (President, Knanaya Catholic Women’s Association), Mrs Lissy Lukose (Representative, Federation of Women Self Help Group), Fr. Sunil Perumanoor (Executive Director, KSSS) and Fr. Mathews Valiyaputhanpurayil (Assistant Director, KSSS) had delivered their speeches at the ceremony. A seminar was organized on the theme ‘Women Empowerment’ and it was led by Dr. Rosamma Sony (PRO and Head of History Department at K E College Mannanam). At the dais, the members of self help group of KSSS were recognized for their ideal involvement in flood rehabilitation services. The acknowledged persons were Mrs Bindhu Aji (Ranni Village in Malankara Region), Mrs Pramuda Nandakumar ( S H Mount village in Edakkattu region), Mrs Alice Joseph (Cherukara village in Kidangoor region), Mrs Mini Kunjumon (Kaippuzha village in Kaippuzha Region), Mrs Lessy Reji (Pious Mount village in Uzhavoor region), Mrs Leela Simon (Parabancherry village in Chunkom region), Mrs Laveena Maju ( Karippadam village in Kaduthuruthy region) and Mrs Beena Xaviour (Karipputhatta village in CBR region). Along with them Ms Sharanya Nadarajan also got appreciation for the completion of the higher studies by defeating her disabilities. The whole attendees of the function accredited her great achievement and determination without any opposition. Various exhilarated competitions like ‘pillow fight’ and ‘fancy dress’ which conveying the messages of women empowerment were conducted for the participants. Mrs Sijo Sajan (Piravom village in Kaduthuruthy region) and Mrs Mini Biju (Samkranthy village in Edakkattu region) acquired first and second prizes respectively in pillow fight competition.
