The Day highlights the fact that, for many people, the stigma and discrimination faced by people with epilepsy, can be more difficult to overcome than the seizures themselves.

KSSS observed World Epilepsy Day under Deafblind Rehabilitation Project to promote awareness of Epilepsy and highlight the problems faced by people with epilepsy, their families and caretakers. The Epilepsy Day programmes were inaugurated by Smt. Lizy Abraham (President, Kidangoor Gramapanchayath) in the presence of dignitaries.

After the inaugural session there was a class led by Dr. Siji Varghese (Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre, Koodalloor) on the topic “Caring and Managing of Epileptic Persons” which was very much beneficial for the participants. The programme was organized on Thursday, 18th February, 2016 with a participation of 52 people. Pamphlets containing information about epilepsy were distributed on the occasion.
