KSSS was conferred the prestigious CHAI National Award in honor of its exemplary services for people living with disabilities. The Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) in partnership with the Liliane Foundation of Netherlands constituted the award to recognize and promote exemplary works undertaken by organizations and individuals in the field of disability. Mr. Steven Berdenis (Executive Director, Liliane Foundation) handed over the cash award and memento to Fr. Sunil Perumanoor (Executive Director, KSSS) in a grand ceremony held at the CHAI Training Center, Secunderabad. The event was graced by the presence of Sr. Victoria Narisetti JMJ (President, CHAI), Fr. George Kannanthanam(Secretary, CHAI) and Rev. Fr. Mathew Abraham (Director General, CHAl). The award was granted as a token of appreciation for providing 21 years of pioneering services in the field of Community Based Rehabilitation for the persons with disabilities. The award served to renew the vigor and enthusiasm of KSSS’ activities to improve the quality of living of the persons with disabilities.
The Flood Relief Activities of KSSS in the year 2018 was honored by “Kottayam Powaravali”.Rev.Fr. Mathews Valiyaputhenpurayil (Assistant Director, KSSS) received the award from Honorable Finance Minister Shri. T.M Thomas Issac,Shri.Ommen Chandy (Former Chief Minister of Kerala).Shri.Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA, Shri. V.N Vasavan (Ex. MLA) was present at the award function.
An Annual Report, if well designed and formatted, is a great way to present an organisation’s milestones achieved in a financial year and highlight the organisation’s unique culture. Annual Reports are intended to give stakeholders and other interested people a glimpse into the departmental activities and financial performance. They may be considered as grey literature. Preparing Annual Report is a result of teamwork with the consultation and participation of all departmental heads.
Best Annual Report Award instituted by Justice Peace Development Commission of the Kerala Catholic Bishop’s Council for the year 2014-15 was presented to Kottayam Social Service Society by His Excellency Most Rev. Selvister Ponnumuthan, Vice-Chairman, JPD Commission at Kerala Social Service Forum (KSSF) on June 4, 2016 amidst the Annual General Body Meeting. KSSS Annual Report was selected for the award from those of 31 Diocesan Social Service Societies in Kerala.
The award consisting of Memento and Cash prize of Rs. 5,000/- was received by Fr. Bins Chethalil, Secretary, KSSS.
Fr. Michael Vettickat (President, KSSS) has been nominated as a representative member of NGOs in the EFL (Ecologically Fragile Land) Committee of the State Government. The committee formed for the re-identification of fragile lands would play a crucial role for maintaining the ecological balance and bio-diversity of the state. The nomination has been in recognition of the outstanding coordination skills demonstrated by Fr. Michael Vettickat in the implementation of community development programmes involving a huge population”
Environment Day is observed for people from all walks of life to come together to ensure a cleaner, greener and brighter outlook for themselves and future generations. On the occasion of Environment Day KSSS received the green partner award from Cine Star Bharath Suresh Gopi at Kottayam in the presence of special Sri Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan (Minister for Forest Transport, Sports, Environment, and Cinema, Kerala) and various other dignitaries at Kottayam. The award recognized individuals and organizations from different spheres that have made an outstanding contribution to the environment. KSSS was selected for the innovation and environmental activities done involving a larger community.
KSSS the social service sector of Kottayam Diocese have been conferred upon by National Award instituted by Coconut Development Board for the outstanding contribution in the field of Coconut promotion and to recognize the excellence in coconut cultivation, innovative methods in coconut farming, product development, product improvement, quality improvement, product diversification and marketing. KSSS encourages people to be part of the income generation programme (Friends Of Coconut Tree) and this initiative has created a big leap in the economic situation of various families. KSSS has so far trained 26 batches of 520 unemployed people for Friends Of Coconut Tree programme in tie-up with Coconut Development Board, Kerala. The trainees are given Coconut climbing machine at free of cost along with the six day class. KSSS also promotes coconut farming through distribution of coconut sapling to lead farmers and SHG members during various events.
The award carried a one-time cash award of Rs. 50,000 along with certificate of appreciation presented by Sri. Sharat Pawar (Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture, Government of India) yesterday at New Delhi. The award was received by Fr. Michael Vettickat (Secretary KSSS) in the presence of Sri. K.V. (Ministries of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution), Dr. Charandas Mahant (Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing), Adv. A. A. Jinnah M.P. (Member of Coconut Development Board), Sri. T.K. Jose IAS (Chairman Coconut Development Board), Sri. A.K. Nandi ( Secretary CDB), Sri. Anup Kumar Thakur (Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries) and Sri. Ashish Bahuguna (Ministy of Agriculture and Co-operation, Government of India).
Paristhithi Mithra is an award instituted by the CEERD, St. Stephen’s College, Uzhavoor every year on June 5th Environment Day. The award is given in recognition of the outstanding contribution towards the promotion of environmental protection, conservation and preservation in the State of Kerala. On this special day KSSS received the Paristhithi Mitra Award from Sri. Binoy Vishwam (Hon’ble Minister, Environment and Forests, Govt of Kerala) at St. Stephen College, Uzhavoor for raising the awareness level and encouraging positive actions for the environment, galvanizing individual actions into a collective power that generates an exponential positive impact. The award marks the importance of World Environment Day on 5 June and celebrates innovative and outstanding environmental programs and initiatives in and around Kerala, as well as the critical work of environmental leaders.
Adding a feather to its cap KSSS was selected by the Kerala Financial Corporation to impart training to potential entrepreneurs selected in Kottayam district under the KSSEDM project of the state which envisions the initiation of around 10000 enterprises in the state of Kerala and the generation of job opportunities for six lakh unemployed individuals in a period of five years. KSSS has received this privilege owing to the recognition it has won in the field of job promotion and quality Training.
